Obos CPQ-platform

Estimation platform for complex products

A house is a complex product with countless variables. Even with pre-defined models, most customers want customizations – from layout changes and larger windows to interior styles and facade materials. Every change affects material quantities and cost, which is crucial to setting an accurate final price.

Obos chose to build a tailor-made CPQ platform because no off-the-shelf system on the market could handle the complexity of their estimation process. With smart integration from Autodesk into their custom-built software in Microsoft Azure – connected to their ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics AX) and PIM system (inRiver) – Obos gained a platform built precisely for their operations. The result: maximum automation, significantly reduced manual work, and faster, more accurate quotes to customers.

Control & Automation

  • The Obos CPQ platform features seamless integration across all stages of the estimation process, as well as with external systems that manage key data.
  • Built-in validation ensures the right product always receives the right pricing – giving both estimators and sales teams full confidence in the platform.

Scalable technology

  • The Obos CPQ platform is built on a robust and scalable service architecture in Microsoft Azure, where the platform is also hosted.
  • Each service is designed as a standalone module with a clear, focused purpose.
  • This architecture provides great freedom and flexibility to adapt the estimation platform to future needs.

Estimation platforms for manufacturing industries

CPQ stands for Configure Price Quote. A CPQ platform is designed to simplify the work of estimators and sales teams. Most standard systems on the market force you to compromise on functionality that’s critical and unique to your business. These platforms are often strong in covering general needs – but fall short when it comes to supporting unique, industry-specific requirements.

This is especially true for manufacturing companies, where both the products and sales processes tend to be more complex than in other industries. Legacy systems such as ERP and production tools are often harder to adapt – making customization even more important.

Are you at a crossroads between adapting a standard CPQ platform or building your own solution? Let’s talk. We’re happy to discuss whether our service-based architecture in Azure might be the right path forward for you.
